Description

The Former Christian Science Reading Room, built between 1890 and 1891 by Horace Field, is a single-storey structure located on Prince Arthur Road in Camden. It is constructed of red brick, featuring long and short brick quoins. The building has a tiled hipped roof topped with a rectangular ogee domed lantern and a bracketed eaves cornice adorned with egg-and-dart moulding. The front facade includes three windows and a double door entrance situated on the right-hand side, framed by a lugged surround with a keystone, cornice, and overlight. The road-facing side displays gauged brick segmental arch sashes that have keystones and lugged brick aprons. On the left-hand side, there is a projecting canted bay with square-headed sashes and a continuing cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
