Description

No. 18 and No. 19 Hampstead High Street are a pair of terraced houses located on a corner site. They were built in the early 18th century and were refronted in a similar style in the early 20th century, with later alterations. No. 18 features brown brick with red brick dressings and has a tiled mansard roof with dormers. No. 19 is constructed of yellow stock brick, also with red brick dressings, and has a slated mansard roof with dormers. Both houses are three storeys tall with attics and each has two windows, with No. 19 having an additional window return facing Gayton Road. The ground floors have 20th-century shopfronts.

On the upper floors, No. 18 has gauged red brick flat arches above flush framed sash windows with exposed boxing, while No. 19 has red brick heads above sashes with flush frames and exposed boxing. Both houses have parapets. The rear facades are made of brown brick and feature segmental-arched windows with exposed boxing, with No. 18 having a stuccoed finish.

The interiors have not been inspected but are noted to retain good panelled finishes on the first floor and above, with boxed-out cornices. The staircases are described as having closed strings, square newels, and turned balusters.
