Description
Nos. 103, 104, and 105 on Great Russell Street are three terraced houses built in the late 17th century, although they have been altered with 19th-century fronts. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick, featuring a red brick parapet and courses, and have a slated mansard roof with dormers. Each house has three storeys and attics, with three windows each, and gauged red brick flat arches above recessed sash windows.
No. 103 has a 20th-century ground floor shopfront. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to retain a dog-leg stair with turned balusters and columned newels, along with some panelled rooms.
No. 104 features a rusticated stucco ground floor that is divided by five Corinthian columns supporting an entablature, flanked by large foliated brackets. It has segmental arched windows on either side of a square-headed entrance, which includes double panelled doors and a rectangular fanlight. The house door is panelled and has an overlight. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to retain a panelled staircase with a dog-leg design, turned balusters, and shaped ends.
No. 105 showcases an early 19th-century wooden shopfront with pilasters that support an entablature featuring an egg-and-dart cornice and a slightly projecting shop window. The round-arched house doorway is adorned with fluted pilasters that support an enriched cornice-head. Both the house and shop doorways have fanlights and panelled doors. The interior has not been inspected.
