Description

107 Great Russell Street is a house that has been converted into a hotel and restaurant. It dates from the late 17th century and has been altered, particularly with a mid-19th century and later front. The exterior is finished in stucco, featuring a channelled design on the ground and first floors, all of which is now painted. The building has a slate mansard roof with three dormers and stands four storeys tall with a basement. The façade includes three windows, with the left side having a curved angle that features one window and one blind window return. The ground floor has a 20th-century shopfront, and there is a square-headed, recessed doorway. Pilasters on the quoins extend through the first and second floors, supporting a cornice and blocking course. There are floor and sill bands, and the sash windows on the first and second floors have lugged architraves and cornices.

Inside, there is a notable late 17th-century open well staircase with closed strings, square newels, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail that rises the full height of the building. Some late 17th-century moulded door frames are also present.
