Number 98 and Attached Railings

Number 98 is a terraced house located on Great Russell Street, dating from the late 17th century but refronted in the late 19th century. The building is finished in stucco, featuring a rusticated ground floor and bands at the first and third floor levels. There is a rusticated quoin strip between Number 98 and Number 99. The house has four storeys plus a basement and contains two windows. The round-arched doorway is flanked by reeded pilaster-jambs that support a cornice-head, and it features a patterned fanlight above a panelled door. The windows are architraved sash windows with glazing bars, and there is a console bracketed dentil cornice above the first floor windows, along with a cornice above the second floor windows. The building is topped with a cornice and blocking course. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have plain stairs. Attached to the house are cast-iron railings with urn finials that enclose the areas.
