Description
82 and 83 Hampstead High Street are a pair of terraced houses, now functioning as a shop and restaurant, dating from the early 18th century and altered over time. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings and feature plain brick bands on the second floor.
No. 82 has three storeys and two windows, with a 20th-century ground floor restaurant front. The upper floors display gauged red brick flat arches over slightly recessed sash windows, which have exposed boxing and gates. A parapet crowns the building. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to contain some panelled rooms, although the positioning of the panelling has changed.
No. 83 also has three storeys but features three windows. It has a 20th-century shopfront with plate glass windows. The upper floors similarly have gauged red brick flat arches above slightly recessed sash windows with exposed boxing and gates. The building has a restored box eaves cornice and a hipped tiled roof. The interior has not been inspected, but it retains a good original staircase with a closed moulded string and handrail, twisted balusters, and square newels.
