Description

This is a detached house located on Wedderburn Road, built in 1886 by Horace Field. It is constructed of red brick with a tiled, hipped roof, with a curb at the front. The design is in the Stripped Tudor or Vernacular Revival style, and it has three main storeys facing the front. The windows are leaded casements arranged in strips. The house’s symmetrical design was closely modeled on Norman Shaw's The Three Gables on Fitzjohn’s Avenue (now demolished), although it is a simplified version. The main front elevation is flat-topped and features three equal gables, each containing a series of windows. A central doorway is topped with a shell-hooded gable. The interior of the house has not been inspected. It forms part of a group of buildings including numbers 1, 3, 7, 9, 11 and 13, which are also early works by Field.
