Description

Number 6 is a detached house located on Lyndhurst Gardens, built around 1886 by architect Harry B Measures for builder-developers William Willett and Son. The house features red and grey-blue bricks with rubbed brick dressings and tile-hanging, along with timber windows and a tiled roof. It stands three full storeys high and showcases an asymmetrical design in the Queen Anne style. Notable architectural elements include two pairs of canted bay windows that rise to a polygonal cap on the right side, and chequerboard brickwork between the ground and first storeys on the flanks, some of which has been cut down. The roof is steeply hipped, and the windows are a mix of casements and sashes, with small panes in the upper portions, although some have been altered. The interior has not been inspected.

The property also includes subsidiary features such as a dwarf garden wall in front, which has a plinth, buttresses, and polygonal piers at both ends and in the center, all topped with terracotta finials. The Willett houses in Lyndhurst Gardens create a compact and visually striking group.
