Description
Wedderburn House is a small block of mansion flats built between 1884 and 1885 by Horace Field. It is constructed of red brick with tile roofs and mainly painted white wooden sash windows. The architectural style is Queen Anne or early Neo-Georgian. The building is four main storeys high, with a further two storeys in the roof. The front elevation features twin gables, and below them are bays extending through four storeys, linked across the centre on the lower two storeys. A central entrance is positioned beneath a broad, round-headed arch. The rear elevation is asymmetrical and relatively plain, with a gable to the right and tiers of sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. It forms part of a group, along with numbers 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13, which are also early works by Field. Number 1 was originally built for members of Field’s family.
