Description

Gorsehill is a country house built in 1928 by Horace Field, designed in the Neo-Georgian style. The structure is made of red brick laid in stretcher bond and features machine tile roofs arranged in five parallel ranges with hipped gables on the west side. The house has two storeys and a dormer attic.

The west front showcases a recessed five-bay centre flanked by projecting two-bay wings. The central entrance features a double-leaf panelled door set within a Roman Doric doorcase that rises to a pediment. Above the pediment is a datestone marked 'Anno Domini 1928'. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of single, double, and tripartite sashes, along with a tall stair window on the right that includes an 8/8 central sash and 4-pane sidelights. Each of the flanking wings has two 6/6 sashes on each floor and one hipped dormer in the attic fitted with 2-light casements. There are external stacks on the north and south returns.

The east elevation has two storeys with seven bays, the central three of which are under an open pediment. The fenestration here is also irregular, featuring tripartite and simple sashes with glazing bars. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a three-bay arcaded loggia that is closed off by French doors. The roof is hipped and includes two ridge stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
