Description
Wyndham House is a house, dating from around 1790, located on Victoria Road in Aldeburgh. It was later altered and extended, and in the late 20th century was divided into two separate dwellings. The brick facade is stuccoed and colourwashed, topped with a slate hipped roof, while the rear wing is built of red brick. The east front has three bays and two storeys, with dormer attics. The central doorway features a six-panelled door with glazed upper panels and a nine-vaned fanlight, set within a moulded doorcase with an open pediment on scrolled consoles and panelled reveals. To either side of the door are tripartite windows, each consisting of a central casement flanked by narrow two-over-two horned sash windows. Above, the first floor has two similar tripartite windows, separated by a single two-over-two sash window, with a balustrade to the casement window. The eaves have a dentil cornice and there are three flat-topped dormers with two-over-two sashes. The south front, which is seven bays wide, features a full-height bow to the east. All windows on this elevation are horned six-over-six sashes. A projecting bay on the west side has a blind window on the first floor. The south front also features a dentil cornice and three flat-topped dormers, fitted with uPVC windows. The rear wing has sashes of varying configurations. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
