Description
Number 11 is a detached studio house built in 1881 by Batterbury and Huxley for Charles Gurden. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain band at the first floor level. The house has tiled hipped roofs with tall slab chimney-stacks, gabled dormers, and a coved eaves cornice. It stands two storeys high with an attic and semi-basement, and has an irregular front with three windows. The square-headed doorway is made of gauged brick and has enriched console brackets that support a pediment above a date plaque. The panelled door includes an overlight and is accessed by steps. The left bay projects and features a central three-sash full height canted bay with a parapet that breaks into the roof. The windows have gauged brick segmental arches and recessed two-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected. The property also includes subsidiary features such as an attached low brick wall with cast-iron railings, stone capped gate piers, and a cast-iron gate.
