Description

This is a detached studio house, dating from circa 1876 to 1881, designed by Batterbury & Huxley. It is constructed of red brick with bands of rubbed brick above the ground floor, at the first-floor sill level, and at the eaves. The roof is tiled, with symmetrical brick-pedimented Flemish-style gables to the front and rear, and a central gabled dormer window.

The design is symmetrical. A slightly recessed central entrance bay has a gauged brick round-arched doorway, featuring a large keystone surmounted by a ball finial, and a panelled door with sidelights and overlight. The ground and first floors have gauged brick flat arches and dressings to flush-framed sash windows; the upper portions of the windows have glazing bars. Attic casements of three lights with moulded cornices are flanked by brick pilasters supporting pediments with rubbed brick plaques.

The interior of the building has not been inspected.

Attached to the property are low brick walls with stone coping, enriched wrought and cast-iron railings with urn and floral finials, brick gate piers with stone coved cornices supporting pyramidal caps, and scroll-design cast and wrought-iron gates.
