Description

Numbers 23-33 on Conway Street are a row of six terraced houses, built in the early 19th century for Nos 23-29, and around 1798 for Nos 31 and 33. The houses are constructed of darkened stock brick, with some later patching, and No. 31 has been painted. The ground floors are finished in stucco, with Nos 23, 25, and 29 featuring rusticated detailing. There are plain stucco bands on the first floor. The buildings rise to four storeys and include basements, with each house having two windows.

The doorways are round-arched and have patterned fanlights and panelled doors. Nos 23, 25, 31, and 33 have pilaster-jambs and cornice-heads, while Nos 27 and 29 feature lion mask stops. The windows have gauged brick flat arches, some of which are painted, and are fitted with recessed sashes. Most of the houses have cast-iron balconies at the first-floor windows, except for No. 33. The row is topped with a parapet.

The interiors have not been inspected. Attached to the houses are cast-iron railings with urn finials that enclose the areas in front of the properties.
