Description

The Lodge is a farmhouse located on Ixworth Road in Honington, dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. It has an L-shaped form and stands two storeys high. The building features a combination of timber framing and rendering, along with white gault brick, topped by a hipped, slated roof.

The northern third of the front is timber-framed and rendered, forming the gable end of a wing that extends to the rear, which likely comprised the original farmhouse. The rest of the front is an early 19th-century addition in white brick. To the south of the central door, there is a large small-paned sash window with a flush frame and flat arch. To the north, a single-storey canted bay, added in the mid-19th century, is also made of white brick and features crenellations. This bay includes a glazed garden door and two long small-paned sash windows, all set in deep reveals.

On the upper storey, there are three small sash windows with small panes and flush frames, and the older windows contain some panes of crown glass. The central entrance features an early 20th-century six-panelled door. At the rear of the wing, there are casement windows, including one two-light window with rounded heads, and an earlier entrance door from the late 18th century, which is six-panelled and has a flat hood.
