Description
Woodstile Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been divided, dating from around 1800 to the early 19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging set on a high dressed grey sandstone plinth, and has been extended in brick, which is now painted to resemble timber framing. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The framing consists of small square panels, with four panels running from the sole plate to the wall plate, and the building is arranged in an L-plan. The original wing from around 1800 has approximately three framed bays, with a later addition to the south. The structure has one storey and an attic on one side, and two storeys with a gable-lit attic on the other.
The south front displays a dentil brick eaves cornice and features external brick end stacks as well as a brick ridge stack on the rear wing. The front has three bays with glazing bar sash windows that have painted stone cills and painted stone lintels with raised keystones. The central door is composed of six beaded flush panels and has a three-part rectangular overlight, topped with a flat bracketed hood that has a moulded cornice. On the rear wing, there are three windows facing west, which are two-light late 19th-century wooden casements. There is a boarded door located between the first and second windows from the north. Additionally, there are three gabled semi-dormers on the west side. Inside, there is an exposed collar and tie-beam truss in the gable at the rear, featuring stepped queen struts and V-struts. The interior has not been inspected.
