Description

The ruins to the east and north of the Abbey Church in Bury St Edmunds are significant remnants from the 12th century. These include the remains of the Chapter House located to the north of the north transept, along with the apsidal Treasury and the Warming House situated further north. To the east, there is a complex group of buildings that includes the Prior's house, the Infirmary, and Bradfield Hall. The structures are primarily constructed of rubble flint, with some slight remnants of ashlar facing. Most of the buildings have been reduced to low rubble flint walls. In the Treasury, there are the bases of four small columns, two on each side, set on a continuous plinth. This site is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
