Description

A group of three churchyard monuments located in Bury St Edmunds.

MON 176 is a headstone dating from 1806 made of Ketton stone, dedicated to Thomas Cook, who died in 1806, and possibly his wife, who died in 1802. It features a cherub weeping by a large urn that has a portrait medallion of the deceased, with trees on either side.

MON 177 is another headstone from 1802, also made of Ketton stone, dedicated to Joshua Cook. This monument depicts a woman reading, accompanied by drapes.

MON 178 is a headstone from 1695, made of Ketton stone, but it has no surviving inscription. It showcases a well-crafted skull flanked by winged angel heads with crossed wings.
