Description

The parish pump, located 25 meters east of the Market Cross, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It stands about 3 meters high and features a wooden encasement around its shaft. The pump has a square plan with two sunk panels on each side; the upper panels are arched and topped with a pediment in the Gothick style. It has a moulded wooden cap that is clad in lead, and a 19th-century cast iron lamp standard is fixed to the top. The pump includes an iron handle and spout, along with a 20th-century concrete trough.
