Description

METFIELD CHRISTMAS LANE (off) TM 38 SW Valley Farmhouse 3/91 - -- II

Farmhouse. Mid-late C16 with probably C18 additions at service end. Timber framed with modern roughcast render. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. Originally 3-cell form. 4 windows, mid C20 small-paned casements. At the front is a mid C20 gabled entrance addition with glazed door and similar windows to each side. Heavy internal stack and a later stack to the left between the original service end and the C18 addition. Internally much good quality framing and floor structure is exposed; one blocked diamond-mullioned window and evidence for others. Moulded heads to storey posts in parlour. The later addition is framed in re-used timbers, some of them fire-damaged.
