Description
Lambert's Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse located off Christmas Lane in Metfield. It is timber framed and mainly covered in roughcast render, with the gable ends partially plastered. The roof is clad in corrugated iron and the building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in a three-cell form. The windows are primarily 19th and mid-20th century casements. The entrance is inset and features a boarded door. Inside, there is an internal rendered stack with three truncated shafts arranged in a sawtooth pattern, along with a later gable stack at the service end. In the hall, the bridging beam and joists display barred stop-chamfers, and the storey posts have moulded heads. The upper floor remains largely unmodernised, showcasing much good quality framing. Several original doors are present, including one doorway with a 4-centre arched head. The roof structure consists of a single row of butt purlins and arched windbracing.
