Description
Hemplands is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with a 19th-century exterior. The building has two storeys and an attic in part, featuring a main range and a cross-wing. It is constructed with a timber frame, rendered on the upper floor, and has red brick facing on the ground floor, topped with clay pantiles. There is an internal chimney stack in the main range, which has a plain red brick shaft on a rendered base. The gables have plain bargeboards. The windows include 2-light and 3-light casements, some of which are old and have pintle hinges, with transoms on the ground floor. A 19th-century enclosed and gabled red brick porch with a plain tiled roof leads to a four-panelled door, where the top two panels are glazed. Above the door and in the apex of the west gable is the Adair monogram. Access to the interior has been refused, but it is said that some timbering may be exposed inside.
