Description
The barn at the rear and at right angles to Abbey Farmhouse dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with clay pantiles. The structure consists of three bays, featuring full height studs in the long walls and middle rails in the gable walls. The corners have cranked, reversed braces, and there are arched braces supporting the tie beams. The roof is divided into five bays, supported by two rows of butt purlins and arched windbraces. Attached to one gable end is a single-storey range of stabling and outhouses built in the 19th century, constructed from red brick and covered with clay pantiles.
