Description
Laurel Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It has two storeys and an attic in part, with an L-shaped plan consisting of a main range and a cross-wing. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with black glazed pantiles. There is an internal chimney-stack located between the two ranges, featuring a tall plain rebuilt red brick shaft that is partly rendered. Additionally, there is a later external end stack on the left with a pair of short square shafts that have attached heads.
The main range includes two old three-light casement windows on each floor, with the upper floor windows featuring wooden hood-moulds in a Tudor style. The cross-wing has three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars on the ground and first floors, as well as a two-light window in the attic. The entrance is through a full-height 19th-century porch that abuts the internal stack. This porch is made of whitewashed brick, has a sloping single-pitch roof, and features a door with six flush panels, two of which are glazed, along with a hood-mould above. Inside, the main beams are exposed and plain.
