Description
Rectory Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with a parlour addition from the late 17th century. It features a timber frame, mainly plastered, with some areas of colorwashed brick, and small remnants of plaster panels that display herringbone pargetting. The roof is plaintiled at the front and pantiled at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has a three-cell layout. It has three windows, primarily 18th and 19th century casements, and a mid-20th century porch with an entrance door. Inside, there is an internal stack with an original chamfered oblong shaft and a 19th-century cap, along with a later gable stack to the right. To the left, there is a single-storey addition with a glazed pantiled roof. The first floor showcases good 16th-century framing with tension braces at the service end. The former outside gable end wall retains some old plasterwork with simple pargetting. The hall features chamfered joists with run-out stops and an open fireplace. The service end was originally divided into two, with chamfered joists and original trimming for a stair trap. The newel stairs have been replaced by a mid-20th century straight flight.
