Description
The Nest is a former farmhouse that consists of three distinct sections. The right part is from a medieval range, the center is a mid-16th century parlour addition with three bays, and the left is a small addition from the 19th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with pantiled roofs. The parlour addition has two storeys and a disused attic, while the rest of the structure has one and a half storeys. It features mid-20th century standard casement windows and a mid-20th century door. There is a gable stack at the junction of the parlour addition and the earlier range, as well as a small gable stack on the 19th-century wing. Inside the parlour, there is a bridging beam with barred stop-chamfers, and the front storey post retains its original shaped head. The chamber above showcases fine exposed framing with reversed braces and tie beams that have a pronounced camber. The ceiling features chamfered joists with a planked-in cornice, and above this chamber is a queen-post roof.
