Description
Messuage Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, built in two phases. It features a timber frame that is roughcast-rendered, topped with a roof made of glazed black pantiles. The building has two storeys and a three-cell layout. The windows are mid-20th century standard casements with large panes. There is a lobby entry that includes a small gabled porch and a mid-20th century half-glazed door. The farmhouse has an internal stack and a 19th-century external stack on the left gable end. Although the interior has been modernised, the main components of the frame remain intact. The bridging beams in the hall and parlour have solid arched braces connecting to the wallposts. There is also evidence of first-floor diamond-mullioned windows, and the parlour cell is a later addition.
