Description

This is a late 18th-century shop building, originally comprising two bays, located on the north-east side of Ipswich Street in Stowmarket. It is constructed of whitewashed brick with a slate roof. The front of the building features a 20th-century shopfront with decorative pilasters on either side and thin muntins, indicative of an effort to preserve its original appearance. The first floor has two 2/2 sash windows without horns, set within flush frames and beneath gauged skewback arches. A platband runs along the second floor. This upper floor is lit by two centre-hung casement windows with glazing bars. The building is finished with a deep timber eaves cornice detailed with paired block brackets. The roof is gabled, and a ridge stack was removed in the 20th century.
