Description

This early 19th-century shop and flat is located on the north side of Buttermarket in Stowmarket. The building is constructed of rendered and colourwashed brick, topped with a machine tile roof. It has three storeys and a dormer attic, with a two-window front. A 20th-century shopfront occupies the ground floor, featuring a central door and a deep fascia board with plate glass windows. Above, there are two sash windows on each floor, each with two-over-two glazing bars. The roof is steeply hipped and includes two dormers: one with a pediment and the other with a segmental pediment, each containing a two-over-two horned sash window. Short stacks are positioned on the east and west roof slopes.
