Description
No. 3 Market Place is an early 19th-century shop located on a corner site in Stowmarket. It is constructed of gault brick and topped with a slate roof. The building has two storeys, with the ground floor featuring a mid-19th-century shopfront that is accessed through double-leaf doors at the corner. Timber pilasters flank the entrance, and additional pilasters frame the door on the west side. A modillion hood is present above the shopfront.
The first floor is distinguished by a platband and is illuminated by two 8/8 sash windows, one on each face, both set within arched recessed panels and topped with gauged skewback arches. The building is capped with a paired modillion eaves cornice and has a hipped roof. This design effectively utilizes the prominent corner location, showcasing a notable 19th-century shopfront.
