Description
6 and 8 Bury Street are two shops that have been combined into one. Number 6 dates from the 17th century and has been altered in the 20th century, while Number 8 is from the early 19th century and has also seen 20th-century alterations. Number 6 features a timber-framed structure that is plastered and colourwashed, and it has a plain tile roof. It is two stories tall with a two-window front, a 20th-century plate-glass shopfront and door, and two 2-light late 20th-century metal casements on the first floor. The roof is steeply pitched with a gable, and the stack has been removed in the 20th century. There is an outshut at the rear. Number 8 has a double-fronted 20th-century plate-glass shopfront with a central door and two pairs of 20th-century sash windows on the first floor, which do not have glazing bars. Its roof is gabled, and there is an internal stack at the north gable end. Inside, there are chamfered bridging beams.
