Description
The Queen's Head Public House is an early 19th-century public house located on Station Road in Stowmarket. It is constructed of gault brick and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a four-window front that faces the road. The central door is set in a plain stuccoed surround and is topped with a flat hood supported by scrolled consoles. To the right of the door is a four-light window with arched glazing, while to the left are two sash windows with 2/2 glazing bars, also with stucco surrounds and hoods on scrolled consoles. The first floor has four sash windows, all with 2/2 glazing bars. The hipped roof is complemented by two gault brick chimney stacks.
The south-west front of the building has four bays, with the door offset to the left between a pair of giant stucco pilasters. On the ground floor, there are three 6/6 sash windows under gauged skewback arches. The first floor features four sash windows with various glazing bar formations. The interior has been altered and opened out over time.
