Description
4 and 6 Ipswich Street is a shop located in Stowmarket, featuring a rear wing from the early 17th century and a front wing added in the early 18th century. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and colourwashed, with a front roof made of asbestos slate. The two-storey facade has two 20th-century shopfronts and two late 18th-century 8/8 sash windows on the first floor. These sashes have exposed boxes and alternate with raised plaster panels. The eaves cornice includes paired mutules, and the roof is gabled. Inside, the rear wing has an upper cruck construction roof from the early 17th century, while the front range features jowled principal studs and chamfered bridging beams.
