Description

The coach house and stables, located 70 meters north of Plashwood House, date from the late 18th century and underwent remodelling in the mid 19th century. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, featuring original herringbone pargetting. It has a hipped slated roof with short rearward projections at either end. The building includes three 18th-century dormers that are lead-clad and have segmental heads, with casements that are boarded over. It is one storey high with attics. The original facade had doorways at both ends and in the center, with a pair of windows on either side of the central doorway. There are 18th-century lunette windows in a tripartite form with a small keystone at the top; a pair of 19th-century coach house doors has replaced the left-hand window. The doors are framed and boarded, featuring semi-circular fanlights that resemble the windows. In the mid or late 19th century, additional accommodation was added to the rear beneath a lean-to roof. The interior retains near-complete high-quality fittings from the mid-19th-century refurbishment. Plashwood House itself is not included in this listing.
