Description
Nos. 13 and 14 Duke Street are two houses that were originally built as one in the 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The buildings are two storeys high and have a three-cell plan. They feature a timber-framed structure with plastered walls and a pantiled roof topped with crested ridge tiles. There is an axial chimney, with the shaft rebuilt in 19th century gault and red brick, as well as a 19th century internal end chimney on the right side. The windows are mid-19th century sashes with border panes. No. 13 has a mid-19th century six-panelled entrance door, while No. 14 has a glazed door from the mid-20th century. Inside No. 13, the first floor joists are exposed, unchamfered, and laid flat, with other principal members also visible.
