Description
The White House is a house that likely has a 17th-century core and was remodeled around 1900, with all external features dating from that time. It has a timber frame, with the front elevation encased in gault brick from around 1900, while the side walls are plastered. The roof is slated, although it was once covered with plain tiles. There is an axial chimney, which was rebuilt around 1900 in gault brick and features a sawtooth band beneath the cap. The house has two flat-roofed, lead-clad casement dormers and stands two storeys high with attics. It follows a three-cell lobby-entrance plan and has five windows. The ground storey windows have flat arches made of gauged brick and are cross-casements. The entrance features a pair of three-panelled doors, with the upper panels containing leaded stained glass. There is a two-storey porch that is open at the ground storey, supported by a pair of Doric columns, and above it is a flat-roofed bay resting on a gault brick plinth. The interior has not been examined. The building is included for its group value.
