Description
One Acre is a house that likely dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It has two storeys and attics, with three windows and a two-cell lobby-entrance plan. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a plaintiled roof that has some slating at the eaves. There are two 18th-century lead-clad segmental-headed dormers with casements. The house features an axial chimney from the 16th or 17th century made of pink and buff brick, with the shaft rebuilt in red brick during the 19th century. The early 18th-century fenestration is well-preserved, consisting of three-light windows with transoms and wrought iron opening lights. The lobby-entrance has an early 18th-century doorway with a six-panelled door, where the upper panels are glazed, and is adorned with a broad architrave and entablature topped with a pediment. Inside, the roof has a two-tier side purlin design. There is also a rear right wing that is 1.5 storeys high, plastered, and plaintiled. The interior has not been examined.
