Description
No. 4 College Street is a 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered house featuring a cross wing at the west end. The house has 2 storeys and attics, with the upper storey jettied across the entire front, supported by curved brackets. The cross wing is slightly higher than the main block, and its gable projects slightly on a carved bressumer. The building has a three-window range with double-hung sashes in flush case frames. The first-storey windows have single vertical glazing bars, with one being a casement window, while the ground-storey windows include glazing bars. Two windows in the cross wing are original. The roof is tiled and includes one gabled dormer. This house is part of a group that includes the Church of St Peter, the gateway to Wolsey's College of St Mary, and Nos 1 to 5 (odd).
