Description

The gateway located 10 metres south of The Lodge serves as the entrance to the drive leading to Thorington Hall. It was built in the early 19th century and features four painted square cast iron piers designed to imitate stonework, complete with chamfered rustication. Each pier has a cornice and pedestal topped with a cast iron urn. The gateway is flanked by heavy iron railings and a gate that has spearhead tops. The gateposts are supported by scrolled cast iron consoles, with two on the outside and one on the inside.
