Description

This gateway, located approximately 200 yards north of Lorbottle Hall, dates from around 1790 and is constructed from ashlar and wrought iron. It features double gates with arched top rails and spearhead finials, which are flanked by round gatepiers that have cornice bands, domed tops, and ball finials. Beyond the gates, there are railings topped with spearhead finials and similar piers that have just a domed cap. The gateway is further enhanced by flanking low quadrant walls with chamfered coping and similar but lower railings, along with matching end piers.
