Description
Lorbottle Farmhouse is a house built around 1840, constructed of ashlar stone with a Welsh slate roof. It has two storeys and is arranged in a 3 by 3 bay layout. The building features a chamfered plinth and raised alternating quoins, with similar surrounds for the doors and windows.
On the east side, there is a slightly-recessed central bay that contains a 6-panel door topped with a margined overlight and a cornice. The windows are 16-pane sash types. The central bay has a modillion cornice, while the other bays have a plain coved cornice.
The roof is hipped with corniced ridge stacks. At the rear, there is a round-headed stair window with intersecting glazing bars.
Inside, the farmhouse has a contemporary staircase with stick balusters, 6-panel doors, and shutters, along with mid-19th century fireplaces.
