Description
Walnut Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is timber framed and plastered, with some areas designed to resemble ashlar, and features a pantiled roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range on the south side, showcasing small pane casements. The doorway is asymmetrical and features a mid-19th century plastered brick porch with a slated roof and bargeboarded gables. The entrance has a four-centre arch and a boarded door with cover fillets. Inside, there is an internal stack with four octagonal attached flues that have moulded brick bases and protruding shaped bricks at the corners; these flues have been cut off just above the base. The east gable end includes a 19th-century five-light splayed bay under a plaintiled roof, which has diamond pane windows. Additionally, there is a mid-19th century two-storey plastered brick and pantile extension to the south.
