2/3 Gate Pier 100m south of - Parham House

GV II

One of a pair of gate piers which formed the main entrance to Parham House. Early to mid C17. Ashlar. Square shaft, with undercut ovolo-moulding to the corners; moulded plinth and cornice; a stone sphere on a short stalk on top. A scrolled console projects on the inner side. The parish boundary between Framlingham and Parham passes between the two piers, which are also itemised under Parham (item 3/145).
