Description
This gate pier, located 100 meters south of Parham House, is one of a pair that served as the main entrance to the house. It dates from the early to mid 17th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The pier features a square shaft with undercut ovolo-moulding at the corners, a moulded plinth, and a cornice. At the top, there is a stone sphere on a short stalk. Additionally, a scrolled console projects from the inner side of the pier. The parish boundary between Framlingham and Parham runs between the two piers, which are also listed under Parham.
