Description
This barn, located immediately to the west of Bacon's Barn, has a core dating from the 16th century, with extensions and reroofing added in the early 18th century. It is timber-framed, with parts weatherboarded and rendered, and features red brick gable ends topped by a corrugated iron roof. A full-height porch extends from the west side of the barn. The structure consists of four bays, with the northernmost bay being an addition. The interior once had an upper floor, which has since been removed, but some upper diamond-mullioned windows still remain. The brickwork in the south gable is laid in English Bond and replaces a former timber-framed wall. The roof comprises five bays, featuring a ridge, two rows of slightly stepped butt purlins, and straight windbraces, with bolted knees replacing the long arched braces to the trusses. The porch is also an addition from the 18th century. This barn is included for its group value.
