Description

This barn, located immediately northwest of Orchard Farmhouse, dates from the 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a red brick plinth and is clad in weatherboarding. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with corrugated metal sheeting. There is a gabled porch with double doors on the north side and off-centre double doors on the south side. A gabled wing is present at the southwest corner. The interior has a butt purlin roof with tie beams supported by timber knees, which have replaced the original arch-braces, and diagonal braces are present on the wall studs. The barn is included for its group value with the nearby farmhouse.
