Description

This barn, dating from the late 16th century, is positioned sideways to the road and is located adjacent to The Willows in South Elmham All Saints. It is constructed from timber framing and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of three long bays, plus an additional half bay added later at the north end. It features full height studs, arched braces at the corners of the frame, and jowled posts supporting the tie-beams. The main roof spans five bays of irregular length and includes two rows of unstepped butt purlins, with arched windbraces supporting the upper row. The added half bay incorporates primary braces and bisected studs.
