Description

LETHERINGHAM THE STREET TM 25 NE (South side) 5/86 16/3/66 Letheringham Mill G.V. II

Mill. C18 with C19 additions. Timber framed with clapboarding and a plaintile roof. Two floors and two attic floors to the gambrel roof. Downstream side: brick archway to the shoot. Above and behind these are two central doorways to the main body and a stable door at left. To the first floor are 2 two-light lateral casements with a divided loft door at left. Attached at left is a C19 outshut which has a door at right and a 3- light window at left. Recessed at right is a C19 addition. Right hand gable end: projecting outshut at right which has a gabled pantile roof and a 2-light C20 window. Above this at first floor level is a casement and above that are 3 small single-light windows and a 2-light casement below the projecting lucum which is supported on brackets and has a 2-light window to its gabled top. Left hand side: projecting lean-to at ground floor level, a 2-light window to the lower attic floor and a cross window to the topmost floor. Interior: all machinery removed save for the wheel, which has an octagonal wooden shaft, iron outer ring and is badly corroded and a frame for a shaker and various belt wheels. The inner frame is close studded with angle braces and chamfered ceiling beams.
