Description

Old Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly a manor house, dating from the mid to late 16th century, and possibly incorporating some elements from an earlier building. It features a timber frame with some colourwashed 19th-century Flemish bond brick walling and colourwashed render. The roof is of plaintile, originally thatched. The building has two storeys with an attic.

The road front includes a projecting wing near the center, likely from the 19th century, which has a central window with a large pane below and three lights above. There is a three-light 19th-century casement window on the first floor. To the right of this wing, there are two bays with an outshut at ground floor level, featuring a slate roof and brick walling, which is set with two cambered-headed three-light casements. Above these, there are two similar first-floor windows. To the left of the wing, the ground floor has brick walling with a three-light window with a cambered head to the right and a cambered-headed garage door at the far left. Above these, there are two three-light casement windows on the first floor.

A chimney stack with moulded brick bands is located at the ridge left of center, with the upper part rebuilt. A similar stack on the right has been entirely rebuilt in the 19th century. The right gable end features brick walling at ground floor level, with a cambered-headed two-light window to the right and a two-light attic window.

At the rear, there is a projecting gabled wing to the right of center, behind which a change in the levels of the ridge is evident. This wing has a six-light ground floor window and a four-light first-floor casement. To the left is an outshut with two two-light casements, and another two-light casement is located on the first floor. To the right of the wing are further 19th-century outshuts.

Inside, the ground floor features chamfered end-stopped 16th-century ceiling beams on wall posts. The first floor has further jowled wall posts and tie beams, both of which have mortice holes for arched braces that have since been removed. The roof is likely from the 17th century and includes wind braces.
