EAST STREET 1. 1692 The Gainsborough Cinema

    1. 2 storeys, stucco. Wide ground floor entrance with entablature over plain piers. Outer pilasters with ornamental heads ending below similar pilasters reaching up to small cornice with balustrade section adjacent. One window adjacent. Next to this is a matching pilaster, its head at a greater height supporting a parapet with segmental top with round window and swags. Over the entrance is a 3 light sash window with pilasters and entablature. Interior said to be of original date. Listed as an early example of a purpose built cinema.
