Description
98 and 99 North Street are two buildings originally dating from the 17th or 18th century. They are two storeys high, timber-framed and plastered, with tiled roofs and two windows. The buildings were rebuilt and combined, resulting in a range of four windows, including a three-light window on a splayed corner, and four additional windows on the return in East Street at the first floor. The upper part is rendered and stained, while the roof is made of machine tiles and hipped at the corner. The modern building is designed to be sympathetic to traditional styles, featuring sash windows with glazing bars and flush frames. The ground floor contains modern shops. These buildings are included for their group value, as they form a group with the White Horse Hotel at No 96 and East House on East Street.
